Learn what statistics say about female representation on stage

Statistics reveal trends. They help us understand our surroundings, a situation, behaviors.  By analyzing participation (women’s representation on stage), we can see patterns not obvious from individual experiences in isolation. Once collected, data highlights gaps (such as differences  in visibility and access for female musicians of different ages). It allows us to ask questions : what prevents a female musician from performing more widely? Trends can show how opportunities, resources, and support influence participation. Collecting and sharing statistics gives legitimacy to these observations. It also creates a foundation for discussion, research, and action. Ultimately, statistics shine a light on the challenges women face and inspire solutions to increase their presence on stage.
